From Daniel Maddox
dated 13th January 2007
Hello
I am the grandson of John Maddox (44B) who supplied photographs of last years reunion.
I am writing to sadly inform everyone that he passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon
(12th Jan 08). My grandad was very proud of his army history and looked forward to
the reunions every year, im so glad he made it to the last one despite heavy rain
and floods. Would it be possible to pass on the news to others as I am trying to
contact as many of his friends as I can via email.
We have made arrangements for the funeral, it will be held at 11.30am on Tuesday
22nd January at the Central Cremotorium in Gloucester. Could you post a note on one
of the forums giving details, in case anyone may want to come or even if they just
want to think of him at that time. We have asked for donations to the Burma Star
as grandad was a big supporter, again if anyone wishes to make donations they can
via the funeral director at this address. Beechwood Funeral Services, 102 Bristol
Road, Gloucester, Tel 01452 722131.
We found out yesterday that he had terminal lung
cancer and had been told a while back but kept it from everyone, I think he didn't
want us to fuss or worry about him.
Regards
Daniel Maddox

At the 2007 AGM it was agreed that, in addition to the placing of a remembrance poppy at the annual drumhead service, a Scroll of Remembrance would be sent to the families of all Arborfield Old Boys who've had their final Passing Out Parade.
Here you will see a copy of the design the AOBA is using.
Eddie Broomfield, 45A has been tasked with the job of ensuring this happens as smoothly as possible.
